Hey Moms! Celebrating You with Somatic Self-Love

Hey moms! As we celebrate you and all that you do on Mother's Day, I'm here to remind you to practice somatic self-love. It's so important for women to take care of themselves, not just for their families or loved ones, but just for them.

Nurturing your own well-being and cultivating a deep sense of self-love allows you to be the best version of yourself. By prioritizing self-care, you honor your own needs and desires, empowering yourself and embracing your unique journey.

Celebrating Moms! Five Step Self-Love Ceremony

Try this 5-step self-love ceremony, created just for you, dear mothers, as a way to celebrate and take care of yourselves:

  1. Set the space: Find a quiet and comfortable space where you can relax and be undisturbed. Light a candle or diffuse your favorite essential oils to create a soothing atmosphere.
  2. Ground yourself: Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. Visualize roots extending from your feet, grounding you into the Earth.
  3. Affirm your worth: Repeat affirmations that resonate with you, such as "I am worthy of love and care," or "I honor my needs and desires as a mother and as a woman."*
  4. Embrace self-care: Choose a self-care activity that brings you joy and relaxation, such as taking a warm bath, reading a book, or going for a gentle walk in nature.
  5. Express gratitude: As you close the ceremony, thank yourself for taking the time to nurture and care for your own well-being. Acknowledge the love and effort you put into your mothering role and beyond.

Happy Mother's Day!

Feeling Affirmations in Your Body: Listening to Your Inner Wisdom

When you say the affirmation, "I am worthy of love and care," take a moment to notice how your body responds. Do you feel warmth, tingling, or a sense of relaxation? Or do you experience tension, discomfort, or resistance? There's no wrong answer - your body's response provides valuable information about your inner state.

As a mom in our fast-paced, demanding culture, it's quite normal to feel aches or discomfort when saying affirmations like this. This response might indicate that you've been neglecting your own needs or that you've internalized societal expectations that prioritize others' well-being over your own.

If you notice that the affirmation doesn't fully resonate within your body or you feel discomfort, take this opportunity to explore these feelings. Here are some suggestions to help you connect with your body and inner wisdom:

  1. Acknowledge the sensations: Honor the feelings you experience in your body, without judgment or criticism. Recognize that these sensations are valuable insights into your emotional and physical state.
  2. Breathe into the discomfort: Take deep, slow breaths, directing your breath towards the areas of tension or discomfort. Imagine your breath creating space and dissolving any resistance.
  3. Explore your emotions: Reflect on the emotions that arise when you say the affirmation. Are there any beliefs or thoughts that may be contributing to your discomfort?
  4. Practice self-compassion: Remind yourself that it's okay to feel discomfort or resistance. Be kind to yourself and recognize that you're taking the first steps towards self-love and healing.
  5. Repeat the affirmation: Continue to say the affirmation, allowing yourself to slowly build a stronger connection with the words and their meaning. Over time, you may notice the affirmation resonating more deeply within your body.

By tuning into your body's wisdom and listening to the messages it sends, you can foster a deeper connection with yourself and begin to break free from limiting beliefs that may be holding you back from fully embracing self-love and self-care.
